Chapel at Spain Street

It is a beautiful neogothic style building, attached to the Hospital, bought and restored by the Town Hall in 1998. It has a rectangular key and polygonal apse of five sides. On the side walls are false buttresses that frame the windows of Gothic arches and the main door.

With an area of ​​150 m2, today this unique building is used for cultural events, temporary exhibitions, and mainly, for the celebration of civil marriages.

It was built from 1927 as a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Carmen with idea of ​​being also used for the religious services of the hospital that was built next to it, at the initiative of Don Antonio Girona Ortuño, rich and important politician born in our locality. Provincial Deputy on several occasions, also held the Patriotic Union Headquarters throughout the district, being considered at the time a great philanthropist, as he built social housing and ceded the land for the construction of the hospital annex to the Hermitage.
